My name is dana gervais johnson (they/she);

I am an artist very grateful to be living and working in Bloomington, Minnesota. I create works in printmaking, mixed-media, and larger scale abstracts. My art is an exploration of identity, growth, and experiences as an artist, mother, and non-binary person.

I share online as “great dane studios” – a play on my first name and a name I came up with as a little kid. My work includes drawings, watercolors, colored pencils, chalk pastels, oil pastels, acrylic, ink, linoleum block printmaking, wire sculpture, and collage. In addition to Abstract Expression, I also create artworks with themes of history and pop culture, as an artisan at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival – as “L’Artiste Gervais”. I strive to explore and share, with my work, a claim to my identity as an Artist.
